THE FIRE BALL: REVOLUTION is more than just a theme. It is a statement. It is a demand. It insists that each of us speak up and speak out. Much is made of community within LGBTQIA+ circles, but community is never inevitable. It requires more than mere proximity. It is the recognition that our perpetuation of white supremacy, trans exclusion, bi erasure, racism, sexism, transphobia–systems in which we play a part, whether directly or otherwise–continues to perpetrate violence upon those in our community. The current political landscape in the United States and around the world requires each of us to engage in critical self-reflection, such that we can better understand our own privileges and complicity in the oppression of others. This is difficult work. It requires a revolution of thought and habit. A sometimes violent upheaval of ego and good intentions. Join us, as we celebrate the beautiful diversity of the LGBTQIA+ community and work to foster respect and equity!
